Recently, the Thai police exposed a surrogacy scam, about 100 Thai women were deceived by a criminal group to Georgia to retrieve eggs, and 4 people were rescued.

According to Red Star News, on February 3, local time, Pavena, chairman of the Pavena Women’s Children’s Foundation in Thailand, revealed that with the assistance of Interpol, the foundation recently successfully rescued several Thai women who were detained by human trafficking organizations in an “egg farm” in Georgia, and the rescued women were forced to undergo illegal egg extraction surgery in the “egg farm”. The women were forcibly detained by a group operating in Georgia that held about 100 Thai citizens.

According to the Beijing News, on February 3, the founder of a children’s women’s foundation in Thailand held a press conference with the rescued victim women, one of whom went to Georgia with 10 other women in August 2024 led by a Thai female leader. They stopped in Georgia disguised as tour groups, but their passports were confiscated upon arrival.

They were then taken to a four-house area where the woman estimated to be home to about 100 Thai women. Victims are subjected to monthly forced ovulation stimulation and egg retrieval. The woman returned to Thailand after her family helped her pay the ransom, after which three other Thai women were rescued.

Nana (pseudonym), a victim woman, recalled that she saw a surrogacy recruitment advertisement on the Internet, promising a reward of 400,000 to 600,000 baht (about 86,000 to 129,000 yuan), and Nana was told that the process would only take one month. However, once in Georgia, victims are controlled and held by human trafficking organizations, where they are injected with hormones to stimulate their ovaries, anesthetized once a month, and then retrieved without any pay.

Police said the criminal group was involved in large-scale human trafficking, and that the gang resold eggs to third countries for IVF, and that the Georgian government and Thai police are investigating the group in depth.
