Expert: DeepSeek cannot replace doctors in the short term.

The doctor laughed at himself “the sky is falling”! The patient “questioned” the treatment plan after looking up DeepSeek, and it was right! Specialist: There is no substitute for a doctor in a short period of time

“The sky is falling! After the patient DeepSeek questioned my treatment plan, I was so angry that I checked the guide again, only to find that the guide was updated……” On February 22, an online post by a medical blogger in Guangdong Province “Gu Fang Self-Appreciation” caused heated discussions among netizens. As of 14:00 on the 23rd, the post received 152,000 likes, nearly 30,000 comments, and 11,000 favorites.

According to upstream news, the reporter found that many netizens with medical experience in the comment area said that they had encountered a similar situation, and the netizen “big baby who will be invisible” replied: “I went out of the outpatient clinic yesterday and explained it to the patient.” He showed me the results of the DeepSeek check, and as I said, the patient complimented me on my professionalism and responsibility. The netizen joked: “I feel that the time to be laid off is not far away.” ”

On the 23rd, the reporter contacted the poster blogger “Gu Fang Self-Appreciation”, who told the reporter: “After the patient checked with DeepSeek, he had some questions about the relevant treatment plan and consulted with me. He said DeepSeek’s diagnosis was correct. Some of the medicines in our local (hospital) have been replaced without them, and they have been explained to the patients. ”

There are patients who use DeepSeek’s diagnosis to prescribe medication

The reporter’s investigation found that on social platforms, some doctor bloggers posted similar encounters to “Lonely Fang Self-appreciation”. On February 16, the blogger “Phantom Sky” posted that when he went to work, he encountered a situation where a patient took out a DeepSeek diagnosis plan and directly asked him to prescribe medicine.

On the 23rd, the reporter contacted “Phantom Sky”. His surname is Sun, and he is a doctor in a hospital in Shenzhen. Dr. Sun told reporters that on February 16, when he was sitting in the outpatient clinic, a patient asked for a prescription with a prescription advice given by DeepSeek. He looked at the prescription list, which was mainly for the treatment of nail fungus. Dr. Sun said that in terms of treating nail fungus, the prescription given by DeepSeek is reliable, and the key is to diagnose.

Dr. Sun said that he finally prescribed medication to the patient, and when he went home in the evening, he asked DeepSeek, and met the patient with DeepSeek’s diagnosis plan and asked for direct prescription of medicine. “As a general practitioner, the following steps should be followed to ensure patient safety and medical compliance in cases where patients come to the clinic with medications recommended by non-healthcare facilities such as Deepseek.” The reporter saw that DeepSeek gave 7 suggestions. “Deepseek is quite reasonable, the most important thing is to communicate with patients and inform them of the risks of medication.” Dr. Sun said.

Hunan strictly prohibits Internet hospitals from using AI to prescribe

Previously, many places set up “red lines”

Recently, the Hunan Provincial Medical Security Bureau issued the “Notice on Further Strengthening the Management of Designated Retail Pharmacies for Basic Medical Security” (hereinafter referred to as the “Notice”), which clearly stipulates that Internet hospitals are strictly prohibited from using artificial intelligence to automatically generate prescriptions, which has attracted the attention of netizens.

According to the “Notice” issued by the Hunan Provincial Medical Insurance Bureau, the content of “standardizing the prescription of drugs purchased in designated retail pharmacies” stipulates that Internet hospitals must access the provincial medical insurance electronic prescription center and carry out electronic prescription circulation according to the regulations, and the prescription behavior must strictly implement the “Notice on Printing and Distributing Three Documents including the Administrative Measures for Internet Diagnosis and Treatment (Trial)” and the “Notice on Printing and Distributing the Detailed Rules for the Supervision of Internet Diagnosis and Treatment (Trial)” and other relevant regulations, and should conduct effective and full communication and consultation with patients or patients’ families. It is strictly forbidden to use artificial intelligence or other automatic prescription generation.

The reporter noted that according to the “Detailed Rules for the Supervision of Internet Diagnosis and Treatment (Trial)” issued by the National Health Commission and the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2022, there are many restrictions on the use of artificial intelligence, including “Doctors need to conduct real-name authentication before receiving treatment to ensure that diagnosis and treatment services are provided by themselves.” Other personnel, artificial intelligence software, etc., shall not fraudulently use or substitute for the physician himself to provide diagnosis and treatment services”, and in addition, “prescriptions shall be issued by the attending physician himself, and the use of artificial intelligence and other automatic generation of prescriptions is strictly prohibited”.

A doctor in the cardiology department of a tertiary hospital in Beijing told Red Star News that doctors in the hospital will not use artificial intelligence to assist when prescribing, and when the drug purchase platform sells prescription drugs, online doctors will issue electronic prescriptions. As far as it knows, these are also issued online by the doctor on duty, and there will be no use of artificial intelligence to prescribe them, because the doctor is responsible for the prescriptions he prescribes.

However, the doctor also said that the stipulation that “the use of artificial intelligence and other automatic generation of prescriptions is strictly prohibited” is also a further clarification of the system. “After all, there are many applications of artificial intelligence now, and many hospitals are also using artificial intelligence to assist doctors in their work. But things like prescribing and deciding on treatment options are still up to people. ”

Many hospitals are connected to DeepSeek

Doctor: Many years ago, AI was able to help doctors watch movies

Red Star News noticed that a number of hospitals or medical institutions have recently said that they have been connected to artificial intelligence tools such as DeepSeek.

According to the “Fuyang Release” on the 21st of this month, Fuyang People’s Hospital has reached a cooperation with China Unicom Fuyang Branch to successfully realize the privatization and deployment of the DeepSeek large model. This includes using DeepSeek to analyze a large number of cases, discover potential disease patterns, help optimize diagnosis and treatment plans, and realize intelligent literature retrieval, where researchers input keywords and DeepSeek summarizes the latest global research results in seconds. In terms of patient visits, the DeepSeek guidance system can understand the symptoms described by patients through natural language processing technology, recommend appropriate departments and doctors, and provide optimal appointment options according to doctors’ schedules and patients’ time preferences. In terms of doctors’ diagnosis, pathological sections are identified by DeepSeek, which accurately screens cancer cells and reduces human error.

A doctor from a large tertiary hospital in Xi’an told Red Star News that the use of artificial intelligence to assist doctors in their work is not something that has only started in the last year or two, “Before this year, our hospital has begun to use artificial intelligence software to help doctors watch films, and these tools can help doctors find lesions that are easy to be misdiagnosed, and mark and prompt, thereby reducing the misdiagnosis rate.” ”

However, the doctor stressed that artificial intelligence tools are only auxiliary means and important helpers, and it is the doctor who ultimately makes decisions in the whole process.

The Red Star News reporter noticed that at present, on social platforms such as Xiaohongshu and Douyin, many doctors with real-name authentication have released evaluation videos of using DeepSeek to query treatment plans, and most of them gave more “reliable” evaluation results for using DeepSeek to see a doctor.

For example, Xie Yuancai, director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Peking University-Shenzhen Hospital, evaluated the accuracy and reliability of using DeepSeek in the diagnosis of pulmonary nodules.

Xie Yuancai said that the advice given by DeepSeek was generally relatively comprehensive – in fact, the patient had been observed for two or three months, and later underwent surgery to confirm that it was a microinvasive adenocarcinoma; The advice and plan given by DeepSeek are basically in line with the doctor’s advice, and the conclusion that the patient has an early-stage tumor is confirmed through surgery, “on the whole, it is still relatively strong and thoughtful”.

DeepSeek will prompt “FYI” after giving a suggestion

Specialist: There is no substitute for a doctor in a short period of time

On the 23rd, the Red Star News reporter used DeepSeek to consult about the treatment of the disease, drug use and other issues, and DeepSeek gave corresponding suggestions. However, the Red Star News reporter also noticed that DeepSeek would prompt in its answer that the advice given was “for reference only” and “please follow the doctor’s advice”. For example, when asked about the use of hyperthyroid medications, DeepSeek said that although it gives advice, “please be sure to follow your doctor’s prescription.”

Wei Zining said in an interview with Red Star News that artificial intelligence does not have the right to prescribe, so whether it is laws and regulations, or according to relevant national and local regulations, artificial intelligence tools must not be able to prescribe to patients. And if you really take medicine according to the prescription prescribed by artificial intelligence, if there is a problem, artificial intelligence cannot be responsible for the patient, “so this opening is absolutely impossible.”

Wei Zining also said that artificial intelligence, if used reasonably, can become a powerful assistant to doctors. “For example, help doctors analyze films, or analyze some test reports and examinations, provide doctors with diagnosis and treatment opinions, and sort out medical records. “But it’s definitely the doctors who lead and make decisions in this process, and AI technologies such as DeepSeek can only be an adjunct.” It’s hard to say what it will look like in 100 years, but at least in the last few decades, artificial intelligence can only be an aid to doctors, not a substitute for doctors. ”

Fu Jian, director of Henan Zejin Law Firm, said in an interview with Red Star News that if an individual uses DeepSeek to “see a doctor”, once there is a “misdiagnosis” and other situations, DeepSeek is not responsible, “DeepSeek has clearly informed that the prescription given is for reference only and cannot be used as a direct diagnosis and treatment plan.” And DeepSeek is just an artificial intelligence software, it can only be used as a medical advice, and prescriptions cannot be used as a professional diagnostic method without the approval of a professional doctor. ”

Fu Jian also said that the “Guidelines for Pharmacy Services for Licensed Pharmacists in Pharmaceutical Retail Enterprises” clearly stipulates that licensed pharmacists can assist in prescription review and pharmacy services through computer information systems, but they cannot be completely replaced by artificial intelligence programs. Therefore, it is okay for doctors to use DeepSeek and other medical aids, but the content given by artificial intelligence can only be used as a reference, if the doctor directly gives the prescription given by Deepseek and other patients to use, it means that the doctor recognizes this treatment method, and if medical malpractice occurs, the doctor needs to bear the corresponding responsibility.

Zhang Qihuai, director of Beijing Lanpeng Law Firm, told the Red Star News reporter that the output content of the artificial intelligence tool represented by DeepSeek can only be used as an auxiliary reference and cannot replace the judgment of professional doctors. According to DeepSeek
