During the Spring Festival, 576,000 people entered and exited Jiangsu ports, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%

On February 24, a reporter from Xinhua Daily learned from the Jiangsu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station that during the Spring Festival (January 14 to February 22) this year, there were 576,000 people entering and exiting various ports in Jiangsu and more than 6,800 vehicles (ships), a year-on-year increase of 16.2% and 13.4% respectively, including 484,000 passengers, 415,000 mainland resident passengers, and 45,000 foreign passengers, an increase of 17.5%, 11.7% and 32.9% year-on-year respectively , more than 9,100 visa-free foreign tourists entered the country, a year-on-year increase of nearly 7 times.

During the Spring Festival, Jiangsu had an average of 170 flights per day, a year-on-year increase of 16.2%. In Nanjing Lukou International Airport, the busiest channel for inbound and outbound passengers in Jiangsu, according to the statistics of Nanjing Border Inspection Station, a total of 337,000 inbound and outbound passengers were inspected during the Spring Festival, of which 267,000 were mainland residents, accounting for 79.2%, and tourists for tourism accounted for more than eighty percent of outbound passengers.

According to the statistics of Wuxi Border Inspection Station, 13,000 foreigners entered and exited from Wuxi Airport during the Spring Festival, a year-on-year increase of 59.9%, and more than 2,800 foreigners entered and temporarily crossed the border without visas, a year-on-year increase of 419.4%. According to Gao Jie, a police officer at Wuxi Border Inspection Station, in order to facilitate customs clearance for passengers, Wuxi Border Inspection Station has set up a 240-hour special area for transit visa-free procedures at the port duty site, printed and distributed a bilingual version of the stay area reminder sheet, and enabled the self-service filling terminal for foreigner entry cards to continuously improve the smoothness of customs clearance.

During the Spring Festival, there was a strong demand for cross-border material transportation such as energy materials, people’s biological resources, and spring ploughing preparations, and more than 320 inbound and outbound cargo planes and more than 2,900 ships were inspected at various ports in the province, an increase of 33.2% and 4.4% year-on-year respectively. In order to ensure the first time of cross-border materials to be transferred and exited, the border inspection authorities implement “7×24 hours” on-site inspection, open a “green channel”, and “one-stop” customs clearance procedures to ensure that the transfer of materials is fast, convenient and smooth.

“Driven by the 240-hour transit visa exemption, unilateral visa exemption and a series of policies to facilitate the exchange of Chinese and foreign personnel, the number of inbound and outbound passengers this year has increased significantly compared with the same period last year.” Chen Xiangyun, director of the Border Inspection Department of Jiangsu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station, introduced that the continuous optimization of the entry and exit policy has effectively stimulated the willingness of mainland residents to leave the country and foreign tourists to come to China, and has driven the development of catering, accommodation, transportation, tourism and other related industries.
