The man in the video is Wang, who claims to be a veteran and even sold his property in order to participate in a project to expand domestic demand. Soon, the task force found Wang in an apartment with an area of 10 square meters and a monthly rent of 1,500 yuan in Fengtai, Beijing. I saw that there was still a 100,000 yuan exercise coupon on his desk, which was actually a prop he used when filming a video related to the so-called “expanding domestic demand” policy. After in-depth understanding, Wang is not a veteran, he has been an extras since last year.
Wang confessed that he first saw an intermediary recruiting extras on the Internet to shoot short videos, each with a remuneration of 100 yuan, and at first he thought it was a short video about anti-fraud. But in fact, when he got the script and recorded a short video, he already understood that he was publishing false policy content, after all, he had not participated in the so-called “expanding domestic demand” project at all.
In November 2024, investigators from the Criminal Investigation Corps of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau discovered that someone was posting a fake press conference on national policies on the short video platform, and the content of the press conference was to “interpret the policy of expanding domestic demand”. The investigators also conducted an in-depth examination of many contents related to the search for “expanding domestic demand” on this short video platform, and found that many individuals claimed to have obtained high benefits by participating in the policy, so as to interpret the policy.
These short videos basically tell about how much money they made after participating in the “expanding domestic demand” buyback project, and they exaggerated this policy. In the video, these people pose for photos with a lot of cash, and even go directly to the bank to show their account balances, with the aim of attracting more people to join the project.
In response to these suspected fraudulent videos on the short video platform, the Criminal Investigation Corps of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau began to conduct in-depth and detailed analysis and research on all aspects of these videos from production to dissemination with the rigorous investigation concept of digging out the source and cutting off the chain.
After a lot of work, the investigators determined that this was a new type of national asset unfreezing crime case, and learned that the criminal gang had made an app specifically for fraud.
In fact, most of the people who download this fraudulent APP are middle-aged and elderly people. Once these people make an investment, they may have a small return in the early stage, but in the later stage, the criminal gang will find various excuses, such as insufficient number of offline members, insufficient investment amount, etc., so as to lure the victim to continue to attract investment.
After figuring out the organizational structure of the criminal gang, the Criminal Investigation Corps of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, together with the Fengtai Branch and other relevant units, jointly set up a special task force to launch a net collection operation against this criminal gang that unfreezes national assets in a full-chain manner.
After further in-depth work, the task force found that the mastermind behind this fraudulent APP was located abroad, and a technology development gang and a promotion and propaganda gang were set up in China. A few days ago, the special case group meticulously organized police forces and went to Hunan, Sichuan, Guangdong, Jiangxi, and Jiangsu provinces to carry out arrest operations.
In the end, the task force successfully arrested Li, Tian and other personnel responsible for technology development and organizing shooting. After review, it was learned that Li and others received instructions from overseas personnel through social software, and then organized artists, programmers, actors, etc. to produce fraudulent apps and shoot fraudulent videos. At present, 16 people including Li have been criminally detained by the Fengtai police on suspicion of fraud. The special case group successfully smashed two dens of ethnic asset fraud in the territory of promotion, propaganda and technological development, and effectively blocked the channels between domestic and foreign suspects, and the case is still under further investigation and handling.
