The top self-discipline: people are not arrogant, people are not humble, and people are not dazzling

Lao Tzu said: “The one who wins is strong, and the one who wins is strong.”

It means: those who can overcome others can only be said to have strength, and those who can overcome their own shortcomings are truly powerful.

When people reach middle age, they should be more low-key in the world, not arrogant, not humble, and not dazzling in front of people, which is the top level of self-discipline.

People are not proud

Zeng Guofan said: “The talented people of ancient and modern times in the world are all defeated by one proud word.”

The style of humility and restraint is the criterion for a person to stand up and stand up.

The most superficial thing is that being in a high position but having no one in his eyes, being arrogant, will only lead to self-immolation in the end and end miserably.

Nian Qianyao had a smooth career in his early years, entered the court as an official, and was promoted all the way.

His belligerence and good fighting not only made the soldiers admire, but even Yongzheng gave him three points.

In the pacification of the wars in Tibet, Qinghai and other places, he showed extraordinary talent and was reused by Yongzheng.

With the increasing expansion of power, Nian Qianyao became more and more unrestrained, pampered and arrogant, causing dissatisfaction and jealousy among the ministers.

Even in front of Yongzheng, he was unscrupulous and had no courtesy of a monarch.

Nian Qianyao took bribes and formed a party for personal gain, Yongzheng became more and more dissatisfied, so he found an excuse to remove him from his official position.

After Nian Qianyao lost power, the ministers impeached him one after another, and finally ended up ruined and ruined.

Ripe rice knows how to bend over, but straight wheat stalks can’t withstand the wind and rain.

In the world, if you don’t know how to restrain your edge and be arrogant, you will be regarded by others as a thorn in the eye and a thorn in the flesh.

If you maintain an open-minded attitude, get along with others with a humble attitude, and constantly improve your own virtues, such a person can go further.

People are not inferior

In the Tao Te Ching, it is said: “The noble is based on the low, and the high and the lower are the base.” ”

There is no distinction between high and low, not self-righteous because of high position, and not belittle oneself at will because of low position.

On the way back from the envoy to the Jin Kingdom, Yan Zi of the State of Qi met a slave with extraordinary bearing, so he stepped forward to ask.

The man told the truth: “I am from the Qi country, and my name is Yue Shifu. Three years ago, he was sold to Zhao as a slave. ”

Yan Zi appreciated him very much, so he ransomed him and returned to Qi with him.

After Yanzi arrived home, he ignored Yue Shi’s father, got out of the car and walked into the house.

This move made Yue Shi’s father very angry and decided to cut off contact with Yanzi.

Yan Zi was puzzled and asked:

“I have redeemed you and set you free, and I should say that I am gracious to you.

Why did you break up with me so soon? ”

Father Yue Shi replied:

“You paid me to redeem me, it’s your kindness.

I accept favors does not mean that you lose your dignity, and you cannot disrespect others just because you give favors.

I’d better go back to Zhao to be my slave. ”

Yan Zi listened to Yue Shi’s father’s words, and deeply felt that his words and deeds were indeed rude, so he quickly bent down and apologized to Yue Shi’s father.

He said sincerely:

“I only saw your good appearance before, but now I really discover your noble heart and extraordinary integrity, please forgive me for my mistakes.”

From then on, Yan Zi began to regard Yue Shi’s father as a guest of honor and treated him with courtesy, and eventually the two became close friends.

A person who is in a low position and is not cowardly is like wearing a thick layer of armor, which cannot be pierced by needles and splashed with water.

With a proud backbone, they walked between heaven and earth, winning the respect of everyone.

As the saying goes: “A man must not be arrogant, but he must not be arrogant.”

Those who stick to the backbone in their hearts, no matter what circumstances they encounter, will also calmly follow their own path.

Life is a practice, with a righteous spirit, looking inward for strength, in order to live up to this life.

Don’t dazzle in front of people

As the old saying goes, “When the water is full, it overflows, and when the moon is full, it loses.” ”

Success is indeed worth celebrating, but over-ostentating and exaggerating one’s achievements will only make people feel immodest and lose the good image they should have.

In life, there is such a type of person who always likes to regard his identity as capital, boasting in the crowd and thinking that he is superior.

However, when others need their help, they are often powerless and have to use all kinds of excuses to cope.

And those who are truly talented, never flaunt their status, always keep a low profile.

In the late Qing Dynasty, once Li Hongzhang went to Nanjing to deal with official business, and when he passed through his hometown, he went to visit his mentor Xu Ziling.

After arriving at Xu’s Mansion, the family saw Li Hongzhang wearing an official uniform and was domineering, and hurriedly went to report.

Seeing this, Li Hongzhang immediately stopped his family and asked him to borrow his ordinary clothes first and then go to report.

The entourage was puzzled: “Why do you want to borrow clothes?” ”

Li Hongzhang explained: “You don’t have to wear an official uniform to visit your teacher, as it will make your teacher feel stressed and uncomfortable.

On the contrary, changing into ordinary clothes will make the teacher feel more comfortable and there is no barrier. ”

Showing off is a dazzling light that illuminates oneself and tends to burn others.

As Lao Tzu said, “There is no trace of good deeds.” ”

Anyone who is comfortable knows how to release their kindness quietly.

I don’t want to be public, but I happen to be warm.

Lao Tzu said: “The light does not shine, and the still water flows deeply.” ”

In a high position, only by knowing how to remain humble and not show off oneself can we avoid unnecessary disputes.

In a low position, only by being firm in oneself, not being arrogant, and not flattering, can we be self-reliant and self-reliant, and get out of the trough

May you and I have low-key foresight and humble wisdom, not arrogant at the top, not humble at the bottom, not dazzling in front of others, sober in the world, and live the life you want.

Encourage you.
