At about 10 o’clock on February 25, an oil pollution cleaning ship (Huailvshui No. 1) collided with a passenger ship (Xiangyuanling Passenger No. 0301) in the Yuanshui Basin of Qinglang Township, Yuanling County, Huaihua City, causing the passenger ship to roll over and sink, and 14 people lost contact.
After the accident, the Ministry of Emergency Management and the Ministry of Transport immediately sent a working group to the scene to guide the rescue, and the provincial, municipal and county levels coordinated and linked, and urgently dispatched 10 rescue teams and professional rescue forces from other provinces with a total of more than 500 people to carry out personnel search and rescue, ship salvage and other rescue work, and mobilize professional medical forces to treat the rescued people.
The water level of the river section where the incident occurred was relatively deep, with an average depth of more than 60 meters; The geological conditions of the water area are complex, and the bottom water flow is turbulent; The water area is wide, and the width of the water on both sides of the bank is more than 500 meters. At 21:26 on February 28, the sunken passenger ship was successfully salvaged out of the water, and among the 14 missing people, 9 people have been searched ashore, all of whom were unfortunately killed.
