Staying up late and being "in debt", can you make up for sleep on weekends with "one-click clearance"?

Stay up late to sleep,

Can weekend sleep “turn the tide”?

“China Sleep Research Report 2023” shows that in 2022, most Chinese will not fall asleep until 23 o’clock to 1 a.m., more than 50% of young people in the workplace have not slept after 12 a.m. every day, and even 13% stay up until 2 a.m. Staying up late to sleep and lack of sleep have made making up for sleep on weekends an expectation for many people. Can you really “regain blood” by catching up on sleep on the weekend?

Long-term arrears of sleep and serious health losses

Staying up late for a long time and not getting enough sleep can not only make people feel tired and inattentive during the day, but also may cause a series of health problems.

Catch up on sleep on the weekends

The body has a chance to repair itself

Studies have shown that if you occasionally stay up late due to overtime and other reasons, sleeping 1-2 hours more on weekends than on weekdays can be used as a short-term remedy:

✓ Helps control blood pressure and blood sugar;

✓ Reduces the risk of depression and heart disease.

There are skills in making up for sleep on weekends to “return blood”.

There are 3 principles to keep in mind:

01. Work and rest should be regular:

Staying up late for a long time and only relying on weekend sleep can not completely offset the harm, the key to true health is to have a regular schedule and rest, and give priority to ensuring about 7 hours of sleep a day.

02. Catch up on sleep in moderation:

It is more appropriate to sleep 1-2 hours more than usual every day on weekends to avoid excessive catch-up sleep and cause biological clock disorders.

03. Lunch break should be appropriate:

If you don’t get enough sleep at night, taking a nap of less than 30 minutes in the afternoon is also an effective way to supplement sleep. However, it should not exceed 30 minutes, and many studies have shown that too long naps are associated with an increased risk of metabolic syndrome and stroke.

To truly have a healthy sleep, you need to start from the bits and pieces of daily life, pay attention to sleep, develop good sleep habits, and try to avoid staying up late every day.

Let yourself be able to welcome the new day with a full mental state every morning, maintain a good physical and mental state in the fast-paced modern life, and enjoy a healthy and beautiful life.
