Previously, there were many fraudulent software such as “UnionPay Meeting”, and under the publicity and reports of the public security organs, China UnionPay and the media, many netizens have increased their vigilance.

Within a few days, the scammers changed the “vest” of the fraud software again, and this time the fraud software was “Bank of China Conference”!
Real-world examples
Recently, 65-year-old Ms. Xu received a call from “customer service of a short video platform” at home, who said that she automatically purchased an insurance on the platform and automatically deducted 800 yuan every month. When Ms. Xu heard this, she hurriedly said that she wanted to cancel the business. The “customer service” then said that it would transfer Ms. Xu to the “senior customer service” to assist her in completing the cancellation operation. Then the call from “senior customer service” came in immediately. Due to Ms. Xu’s age, she was not proficient in the operation of smartphones, and if she wanted to cancel her business, she could only follow the guidance of the other party and download the “BOC Meeting” software as instructed.

Call the other party through the “BOC Meeting” software, contact through online customer service, and carry out password operation and face recognition again and again under the guidance of the other party. It wasn’t until all the balance in the card was transferred out and the refund had not yet arrived that Ms. Xu realized that she had been deceived.
In addition to the “Bank of China Meeting” and “UnionPay Meeting”, which are scam apps, there is also the “Douyin Conference”.

Please keep in mind that any strange call that asks you to download the so-called conference software and cannot be found in the application market is a scam!
Specific scam process
Step 1: Impersonate customer service. The fraudster pretended to be the customer service of a short video platform, claiming that the victim had opened a “live broadcast membership”, and if it was not canceled, it would be automatically deducted every month.
Step 2: Make connections. Add chat software such as WeChat and QQ to induce the download of so-called conference apps.
Step 3: Screen sharing or remote control. Induce the victim to download the so-called conference app to turn on the screen sharing or remote control function, and ask the victim to cooperate with logging in to mobile banking, enter passwords, verification codes and other information, and induce the victim to transfer money to the outside world.
Police tips
1. Apps such as “Bank of China Meeting” and “Douyin Meeting” are special screen software for scammers, don’t let down your guard just because there is the word “meeting”!
2. Any claim to be customer service that allows you to download the so-called conference software, but cannot be searched in the mobile application market is a scam app!
3. Any self-proclaimed “customer service” that asks you to cancel or close “live membership, million protection, million insurance” and other businesses, otherwise the automatic deduction and impact on credit investigation are all frauds!
4. “Screen Sharing” crooks are able to see all your actions on your phone! “Remote Control” scammers are able to take direct control of your phone! Receiving strange phone calls mentioning “meeting number”, “screen sharing” and “remote control” are all scams! Please be vigilant, enhance your awareness of prevention, and jointly protect your property safety!
