Chen Zhongyi believes that “it is too early to ‘set a lifetime’ in the high school entrance examination. Hundreds of millions of children should be liberated from the unscientific ‘diversion of general vocational positions in the middle school entrance examination’ that is set for life at the age of 14 or 5. Judging from the current general situation of children’s growth in China, the junior high school stage coincides with the child’s rebellious period, and most junior high school students have not yet shown their actual IQ and emotional intelligence level, let alone career interests and life planning. ”
The current nine-year compulsory education has a history of nearly 40 years since 1986, and China’s GDP has increased from 1 trillion yuan at that time to 130 trillion yuan now.
Chen Zhongyi also suggested, “Efforts should be made to resolve the ‘involution’, sincerely save children, and provide practical education methods for the all-round development of students’ morality, intelligence, physical fitness, art and labor at all levels: eliminate all bureaucracy and formalism, and save teachers and students from unnecessary evaluation and vicious competition.” ”
Chen Zhongyi pointed out that if children do not even have time to read, then the vision of building a scholarly society will be lost. If children and teenagers are “unable to read even literary masterpieces,” reading for the whole people will become an empty phrase.
