“If the establishment of Liu Hui’s Model Worker Innovation Studio in 2014 is to focus on cultivating the ‘dexterity’ of industrial workers, then the establishment of Liu Hui’s Skill Master Studio in 2019 will cultivate more of the ‘heart’ of craftsmen, which requires more scientific and technological content.”
In response to a question from a reporter from Phoenix Satellite TV about what new requirements for industrial workers are put forward by intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation, Liu Hui, a representative of the National People’s Congress, secretary of the Party branch of the third workshop of the stamping plant of Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. and chief technician of mold fitters, expressed his experience with the words “ingenuity”.
At the age of 18, he began to engage in mold fitter work, and 38 years of professional accumulation as a fitter allowed Liu Hui to practice the unique skill of drilling egg holes with high-speed drills and not breaking the egg membrane, and also allowed this great craftsman to experience the transformation of mold design from pure manual drawing to computer design, and mold manufacturing from pure manual production line to automatic production line.
“In the past, we paid attention to the feel, but now it’s different.” Liu Hui said that in today’s JMC welding workshop, 432 KUKA robots are wielding tirelessly every day, with an automation rate of 98%. “A skilled craftsman must not only feel good, but also be able to computer design, AI drawing, data analysis and programming, and command robots.”
Great craftsmen cannot stop at the glory of the past, but must conform to the trend of the times of intelligent manufacturing and digital transformation, constantly break through themselves, and write new glories. As a grassroots representative from the front line of production, Liu Hui showed reporters the unremitting pursuit of industrial workers.
