It's so disgusting! Yang Mingyu recycled leftover dishes from his fried chicken business and sold them back to customers.

On March 12, the media exposed that there were a variety of food safety chaos in Yang Mingyu’s yellow stewed chicken kitchen.

Using sour ingredients that have been stored for many days, the leftovers after customers eat them are recycled and reprocessed and sold, and the blackened beef overnight is colored and passed off as fresh beef. The reporter’s investigation also found that many stores do not require employees to provide health certificates when recruiting, and a large number of unlicensed store employees go directly to work.

During the unannounced visit, the reporter found that the clerks of some stores would recycle and clean the leftovers after customers ate them, and pick out ingredients such as mushrooms for secondary processing and resale. The clerk said, “Shiitake mushrooms are fine, shiitake mushrooms can be used repeatedly.”

The clerk will pick out the wrong ingredients and repack them for the next customer, and specially told the reporter to “pick the size of (crispy meat) cleanly, and you can’t ask for any of them, in case people don’t order crispy meat……

When making a beef brisket pot, the staff adds pigment to the blackened beef overnight and uses it to pass off as fresh beef.

In the face of ingredients such as shiitake mushrooms and potatoes that have turned sour, when the reporter questioned them, the clerk said: “Try to bubble as much as possible next time” and “just wash it twice”.

In addition to the above problems, there are also a variety of health and safety problems in the kitchens of these Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken stores:

The reporter contacted the staff of Yang Mingyu’s yellow stewed chicken headquarters, who said that the food safety headquarters implements strict supervision and arranges for the heads of various regions to inspect the health status of the franchise stores.

According to the official website of Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken, there are more than 500 joining cities. According to Southern Metropolis Daily, as of September 2024, Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken Rice has 2,703 stores across the country.

Tianyancha App shows that Jinan Yang Mingyu Catering Management Co., Ltd. was established in December 2011, the legal representative is Yang Xiaolu, with a registered capital of 10 million yuan, and its business scope includes catering services, food sales, etc., which is wholly owned by Yang Xiaolu. The company has invested in 3 companies, 2 of which are in a state of existence, namely Shandong Mingheyu Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Shandong Yang Mingyu Supply Chain Technology Co., Ltd.

Tianyan risk information shows that a number of Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken Rice Restaurants have been fined, including Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken Rice Hotel in Pingdu City, Yang Mingyu Yellow Braised Chicken Rice Hotel in Hancheng City, etc., and the reasons for the fines include failing to keep the processing room clean, storing kitchen waste in other garbage collection containers, and the sampling inspection conclusion of reused dining utensils is unqualified.
