People’s Daily Online Hohhot, March 13 (Reporter Zhang Xuedong) On the morning of March 12, the Public Security Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region organized a press conference on “Ecological Security Protecting Northern Xinjiang”.
1. Case of illegal fishing of aquatic products by Qian Moumou in Ordos City
Through regular inspections along the Yellow River, the Ordos Municipal Public Security Bureau discovered illegal fishing activities and arrested one suspect. After investigation, the criminal suspect Qian Moumou used prohibited tools for a long time to illegally fish aquatic products in the main stream of the Yellow River, and illegally sold more than 3,000 kilograms of fish catches for profit. On April 9, 2024, the public security organs took criminal coercive measures against criminal suspect Qian Moumou in accordance with the law.
2. Case of illegal fishing of aquatic products by Liu Moumou and others in Bayannur City
On April 12, 2024, the Bayannur City Public Security Bureau and the Fishery Administration Department carried out joint law enforcement, arrested 3 suspects of electric fishing in the Wujia River in the Yellow River Basin, and seized more than 80 catties of crime tools such as kayaks, inverters, batteries, electric nets and various catches. On April 17, 2024, the public security organs took criminal coercive measures against the three criminal suspects in accordance with the law.
3. Case of illegal fishing of aquatic products by Xu Moumou and others in Baotou City
On June 27, 2024, after receiving clues from the masses about illegal fishing, the public security organs of Baotou City organized police forces to squat, arrested 2 criminal suspects, and seized 2 nets and 78 catties of fish at the scene. After investigation, the two suspects illegally fished fish and shrimp resources for sale in order to seek profits, knowing that the Yellow River is closed to fishing and that the entire Baotou section of the Yellow River is a fishing ban area. On July 2, 2024, the public security organs took criminal coercive measures against the two criminal suspects in accordance with the law.
4. Case of illegal fishing of aquatic products by Tang Moumou and others in Bayannur City
On June 23, 2024, the public security organs of Bayannur City received clues from the masses and immediately organized a verification to quickly find out that the criminal suspect Tang Moumou and others drove a boat to use prohibited tools such as hooks in the main channel of the Yellow River to conduct illegal fishing during the fishing ban period of the Yellow River, and seized fishing boats, hooks, nets and other criminal tools, as well as carp and other catches of more than 130 catties. On June 23, 2024, the public security organs took criminal coercive measures against the two criminal suspects in accordance with the law.
5. Case of illegal fishing of aquatic products by Li Moumou in Baotou City
On May 7, 2024, the public security organs of Baotou City found that the criminal suspect Li Moumou used prohibited tools for illegal fishing during the fishing ban period and in the fishing ban area during the Yellow River fishing ban period, so he was arrested, and 8 hanging nets and 30 kilograms of fish were seized at the scene. After identification, seven species of fish illegally fished by Li Moumou were in the spawning period, causing serious damage to the fishery resources of the Yellow River. On May 8, 2024, the public security organs took criminal coercive measures against criminal suspect Li Moumou in accordance with the law.
Inner Mongolia police said the fishing ban on the Inner Mongolia section of the Yellow River is approaching. The fishing ban period is a critical period for the reproduction and growth of fish and other aquatic organisms, and illegal fishing reduces the number of aquatic organisms and causes serious damage to fishery resources. The public security organs will crack down on illegal fishing in accordance with the law, make every effort to protect the “mother river” and protect the safety of aquatic life, and form a strong deterrent to illegal fishing activities.
