It is reported that the Myanmar government and the Myanmar Karen Border Guard BGF handed over Chinese and foreigners from Myawaddy to the Thai government through the Thai-Myanmar Second Friendship Bridge, and then the Thai side was responsible for sending people to Mae Sot Airport in Laixing, where charter flights arranged by China would pick up people.

Lockdown control!

The commander-in-chief of the three armed forces of Thailand will set the border of Lai Heung Province as a “special zone”!

According to Thai media sources, on March 13, Admiral Song Wit, commander-in-chief of Thailand’s three armed forces, as the director of the Center for Preventing and Solving Security Risks in Border Areas, revealed after holding a meeting that 3,000 people have been repatriated from neighboring Myanmar’s Shuigou Valley and KK Park.
Of these persons, 2,600 were repatriated through the refusal of entry procedure and 400 through the National Referral Mechanism (NRM) procedure.

He said it must be acknowledged that only a maximum of 500 people can be arranged at the moment, and that there are about 4,000 people who are currently under the supervision of the Karen Border Guards BGF of Myanmar, not counting other personnel who are coming in one after another. The meeting also discussed measures to solve the problem of wire fraudsters fleeing one after another, and the Thai side must be more strict in control and screening.
Admiral Song Wit further stated that there is a suggestion from the Immigration Department and the province that in the future, five districts in Heungfu will be designated as special areas for such situations, with the aim of controlling the entry of people without reason, including those who have no travel plan, forged or incorrect documents, and those who carry unusually small funds with them.
As for the duration of the control, it is initially set at 3 months, and the control mode will be set up in special areas during the new crown period as a reference.

The proposal will be submitted to Thailand’s National Security Council for consideration and, if adopted, will be further timed and scoped.
In addition, it is recommended that the Committee consider the relevant products involved in telecommunications fraud rings, such as electronic equipment and satellite dishes, and that preliminary discussions with the customs authorities are underway to prohibit the import of such goods into the above-mentioned areas.

As for the implementation of the “three cuts” (power cuts, internet cuts, oil cuts) that have lasted for more than a month, they have been effective, while 59 non-permanent border crossings/crossings are being closely inspected.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated the arrangement of personnel to travel to Mae Sot District, Lai Hing Province to coordinate the above matters, and all the situation will be reported to Thai Prime Minister Petuntan on March 21.

After the “sudden heavy blow”.

How to cut the grass and eradicate the roots?The repatriation of 450 people may be just the tip of the vast black industry chain.
Myawaddy, Asia-Pacific City, and KK Parks, which are hotbeds of transnational crime, have long been underground empires of telecom fraud, human trafficking, and illegal gambling.

Not all of those repatriated were innocent victims. Now, when they are repatriated, will they face the legal punishment they deserve? How can you tell the real victim from the mastermind of the fraud? These are all questions worth pondering.
Although, netizens very much want to follow this standard: as long as the passport has a Mae Sot or Myawaddy record, but cannot prove itself, they will be treated as “wire fraudsters”…

Behind the repatriation operation is the deep problem of the criminal network of telecom fraud in Southeast Asia.
Why have scam syndicates been able to thrive in Myanmar’s grey areas for so many years? Why do armed groups in some places even collude with wire fraud groups to form a symbiotic relationship of interests?
What’s even more shameless scene: Su Qidu actually shouted injustice, and even shouted the rebellious “What a crime”.

The fact is that in the areas controlled by criminal groups in the Sukidu area, the economy, armed forces, and human trafficking have long formed a complete industrial chain, and the fraud industry is not only a tool for gangs to make profits, but has even become a “financial source” for some local armed forces.
This means that relying on a single repatriation alone will not really shake up this huge black economic system, and there may even be new fraud dens quietly popping up in other regions.

What’s even more interesting is what happens to those who are still trapped in the dark web? The repatriation involved 450 people, but we can’t ignore the fact that there are still many more victims, and even global people who have been scammed, who are still trapped in Myawaddy or similar scam parks.
They may be behind bars, forced to work, tortured, and may even be in danger of their lives. At the same time, there are also fraudsters who have escaped law enforcement before the repatriation operation, will they continue to deceive in more hidden places? Will there be a new wire fraud base on the rise?

The full fight against these transnational crimes requires in-depth cooperation at the international level.
The joint multi-country enforcement operation is undoubtedly an important signal that governments are stepping up their efforts to combat cross-border crimes. However, law enforcement alone is not enough, how to cut off the flow of funds for fraud syndicates? How to clean up the corrupt forces that collude with the gangs? How can criminal networks be traced by technical means? These are the keys to eradicating telecom fraud once and for all.
In the final analysis, there are no more than three stages in the fight against wire fraud:
First, it is hard to hit at this time, and it is reborn at that time;
second, one after another, heavy blows, cutting the grass and eradicating the roots;
Third, severe punishment and heavy punishment will leave no grass at all.

I hope that Su Qidu can meet the domineering “Bai Family Maniac” in prison as soon as possible, and sincerely say “what is the crime” when he is released.
