On February 5, at around 09:30 a.m. local time in Thailand, Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Anutin and his party went to the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) to personally follow up on the implementation of the decision to officially cut off power at five locations in neighboring Myanmar with immediate effect.

It is understood that at the meeting of the Office of the National Security Council of Thailand held on the 4th of this month, the Provincial Electricity Bureau discussed the sale of electricity to Myanmar, saying that the relevant information showed that the electricity sold was not used in accordance with the contract, which had an impact on the security and stability of the country, and then passed a resolution to let the Thai Ministry of Home Affairs and the Provincial Electricity Bureau stop selling electricity to five regions in Myanmar, as follows:
1. Sai River riverside electricity trading point in Mae Sai County, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand to Tachili City, Shan State, Myanmar;
2. Electricity trading point in Ban Muang Daeng area, Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province, Thailand to Tachili city, Shan state, Myanmar;
3. Electricity trading point in Ban Huai Muang District, Mae Sot District, Laixing Province, Thailand to Myawaddy City, Union Karen State, Myanmar;

4. Electricity trading point near the Thai-Myanmar Second Friendship Bridge in Mae Sot County, Laixingfu, Thailand to Myawaddy City, Kayin State, Myanmar;
5. Electricity trading point from Ban Phra Chedi Sam Ong, Sankaraburi District, Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand to Phra Saya Songru City, Mon State, Myanmar.
In this regard, the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand has informed the Department of East Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the security department agencies in order to coordinate the explanation with the Myanmar Embassy and government agencies in the above-mentioned areas. It is understood that at 09:34 this morning, the power in the above five areas has been cut off, and another one is still under further inspection.
